On 10th May 1944 in the Early Morning an R.A.F. Aeroplane Struck the Spire of This Church and Fell on Buildings Nearby. The Spire Was Demolished and Other Extensive Damage Was Done to the Church and Adjoining Buildings. The Names of Those Who Then Lost Their Lives Are Inscribed Below. Restoration of the Building Was Begun on 10th May. 1949 and the Church Was Re-dedicated on 11th December .1950 Civilian Parishioners [crew names listed on memorial] Aeroplane Crew R.A.A.F [crew names listed on memorial]
